Maine Ghost Hunters Society
We are the official site of MGHS (Maine Ghost Hunters Society). We were established in December 2007. We are dedicated to the study of paranormal activity of all sorts. Our passion mainly lies in the area of ghostly phenomena. We thought that a club web site would be a great way to organize a charter, keep members informed, and attract a broader audience by introducing ourselves to the community. We'll use this site to inform people about our society, share ideas, and organize events and activities. You are welcome to join our forums or submit a member request. You don't have to be a resident of Maine to participate. If you would like to become a member please fill out the "become a member" form by clicking the link above.
We are looking to meet people that have a passion for exploring the paranormal. We are serious about this and are looking for only serious people to come out on investigations with us. We are also looking for people that are genuinely intrigued by any type of paranormal activity and want to follow our findings and support our work. Any helpful tips, requests or questions will be gladly accepted and answered. Please use the Contact link above to contact us.
The Mission of Maine Ghosts Hunters Society
The mission of Maine Ghosts Hunters Society lies in the in the story of its birth...
It all began in 2007. Robin [Co-founder] moved to Maine from Tennessee into a home Julie [Co-founder] had lived in for 2 years in South Gardiner, Maine. The home in itself is 100 years old. Historically this home had had some paranormal occurrences over the years, but it wasn’t anything that interfered with everyday life. After Robin moved in things shifted drastically.
She saw a full bodied apparition in her bedroom one night. It was of a large man with overalls and a flannel shirt. The man just came in, stood in the corner then left shortly afterwards. The experience was terrifying for her, and the events that followed that night made matters worse.
Once Robin told Julie about the man, she confirmed that she knew that he was always there, but was harmless. Julie described the man to Robin exactly as she had seen him before and it aligned perfectly with what Robin had seen. Robin could not sleep at all at night for fear he may appear again. The volume of paranormal happenings increased drastically after this. The occurrences targeted Robin while she was alone. It started with footsteps. She would be doing a routine task and she would feel that someone was in the room or over her shoulder, then the dogs began barking at what seemed to be nothing, in the same areas Robin felt a presence. She felt like she was going crazy.
One day she was home alone and she heard very heavy footsteps coming up the hallway. It was unmistakable. Robin thought Julie was home early from work, but when the foot steps had reached the top of the stairs no one came in. The dogs were barking out of control thinking someone had arrived. Then a minute later there was heavy, wall shaking banging on the wall behind the living room. Robin frantically ran outside in the rain to call Julie to find out where she was, but Julie was still at work. No one else lived in this house, so Julie raced home staying on the phone with Robin the whole time. Everything stopped as soon as she reached the house. That is where they knew it had gone too far and had to end. Instead of running from it though, the fear provoked the both of them to begin studying the paranormal.
In the end of 2007 Maine Ghosts Hunters Society was formed. The group was started to help others who are going through something similar to what Robin went through, and to further our own research and understanding of life on the other side. We approach all investigations with an open mind to the possibilities that both natural and paranormal occurrences could be happening. We provide 100% honest results because we are all seeking the actual truth. We are not thrill seekers and we are not looking for fame. Our intentions are only to help those that feel alone and need our support and expertise in this field. If we are not actively helping someone with their home we are training in historically haunted locations. This helps us to keep learning and growing as individuals and as a serious paranormal investigation group.
If you are interested in having us investigate your home or location, please contact us and the co-founders will respond to you within the same day.
